What do you guys think of couples that chose to go childless? Are they living sellfishly? Or are they doing a service to humanity?

Well that depends... are we talking incestous couples? Drug addicted couples? Those who met in the Insane Asylum? Those who have more than one ride with suicide? Those who would abuse their child? Those who think alcohol is more important than anything or anyone? Those who have the thought process of a child? Those who are just a little too happy to be ordinary? Those who honestly believe those aliens shoved butt probes up their rectum? Those who think the sixties, seventies, and eighties are still much alive? Those with a criminal record longer than their forearm? Those who think killing is a quick and easy way to make some cold hard cash? Those who don't believe that clothes should be worn when in the premises of one's own home (Yeah, you walk in on your eighty - seven year old wrinkly four rolls to each stomach grandmother and say they shouldn't), Those who have psychiatric degrees but are in therapy themselves? Or are we talking about the unusually twisted yet deemed by society as normal couples?

Lol Tyler, there are those who'd argue that spawning a child of your own is entirely a selfish act. The world is overflowing with people, and you want to add your own to the mess. According to the wonderfully cynical people in the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement (suck on that one for a while), the only unselfish way of raising a kid is adopting.
Actually makes sense when you think about it, but it's certainly not an uplifting thought... ^_^

I agree with everything in this post. Even the VHEMT sentiments. But thats mostly because i really really hate children. Who me? Cynical?

I don't see what's selfish about not having children, I'm not hurting anyone with it and I don't see how anyone else could. Why should I have children when I don't like them and will not be able to give them what, I think, they need and when the world is already overpopulated?
I don't really care what anybody else does, although I do wish some people that have children would think about their reasons to have children as well as the people who remain childless do.
